BROWSING AND EMAIL PROBLEMS

Is the problem intermittent or does it happen consistently?

 

Intermittent Consistently
  1. Get the IP address(es) that the user is assigned when having the browsing or email issue.
  2. Run a traceroute to that IP address(es).
  3. If the final hop ends up at LocalNet then begin to troubleshoot as you normally would. If the final hop does not end up at LocalNet then you will have to escalate the bad IP address(es).

 

 

EMAIL PROBLEM

1. Are you connected when sending and receiving mail?

  Have user connect and try again... (Record any errors)
2. Can you check or send mail, but not both, or are you unable to do either?
 

Can check or send but not both

Unable to do either

  1. Remove any old mail accounts.

  2. Remove and re-install the LocalNet mail account.

  3. Uncheck “Hang up after sending and receiving”

  4. Disable Firewalls.

  5. Disable anti-virus mail scans.

  6. Download and run Ad-aware or Spybot
