Slow Browsing:

Are you experiencing slow connection rates or high connection rates with slow browsing?

  1. Remove any splitters or surge protectors on the line; also have the user replace the phone line used between the modem and wall jack.
  2. Refer user to their telco to have a line test done.
  3. Identify the modem and the chipset.
  4. Try an init string to increase the speed that the modem is attempting to connect at. DRY TEST
  5. Have user update their modem driver (OEM supported).

  3. Limit the connection speed with the appropriate string DRY TEST

  4. Download and run Ad-aware or Spybot

  7. Have user update their modem driver (OEM supported).

Note: You can always suggest to a customer that they try out LocalNet Express, if their problem is with slow speeds. While it will not increase their actual connection speed, through compression and caching it will load websites faster.
